Plum Lizard's SequiTimer is a free timer app for Android. While there's nothing much special about that, SequiTimer definitely offers more than the average timer app. For starters (and finishers, too) it displays time in six digits, from hours to hundredths of a second. It can string together whole sequences of different timers, each separated by an interval marked by your ringtone or a custom sound; it can even vibrate between intervals. It keeps counting after counting down to 00:00:00:00 for timing post-event intervals. It's ad-supported freeware compatible with all versions of Android. We tried it on a smartphone running Android 4.1.1.

SequiTimer's large, gold-colored digits show up well against the black background of the timer display, and the Start, Pause, and Stop buttons are large and easy to manipulate, even in those situations where you find yourself wearing gloves on a freezing-cold morning. Tapping the pencil icon in the toolbar let us add and edit intervals by entering our desired timings under Hours, Minutes, and Seconds and choosing whether to pause or repeat after intervals. Under Text we could edit interval labels and descriptions and even set the app to speak. Under Sound we could set custom starting and ending sounds. Many more options are available under the app's Settings, including short ringtone options, vibrate, keep awake, and support and contact information.

We started by setting a 13-second interval and pressing the start button, SequiTimer counted down the time in hundredths of a second until our interval expired. At that point, SequiTimer played our custom alert sound, but it didn't stop counting. Instead, the digits changed from gold to red and our interval sound kept playing while SequiTimer counted up (not down) the time since our interval ended. Next we added a second interval, which we also set to repeat once. One thing we like about SequiTimer is the way the app stays open and counting even if you fumble with your phone: Just reopen SequiTimer and stop the count. We've seen lots of timers, but SequiTimer has the features we need and it's perfect for use in less-than-ideal conditions.
