Description
WaveRef calculates refraction coefficient (Kr) and shoaling coefficient (Ks) and determines changes in wave height and wave angle when waves propagate from deep water to shallow water on parallel bathymetry contours. Refraction and shoaling coefficients are calculated based on Snell's Law and wave energy conservation equations. Users need to specify deep water wave height, wave period, wave angle and local water depth. The intent of this app is to assist coastal and marine engineers in their daily engineering work and to assist perspective coastal engineers in understanding wave refraction and shoaling effects.
