Description
Explore while you collect fruit and clean up the jungle in this jump-and-run game for experienced players. Avoid unhealthy food; target-tracking fried chicken, roast suckling pigs, and fire-summoning shamans will try to stop you. A complex level structure with numerous hidden bonus items provides players with many challenges throughout the game. Version 1.3.2 adds Vista support.
Review
In this mildly amusing jungle side-scroller, you control the dreadlocked Frutti Freak as he gathers bananas for a tyrannical monkey king. Frutti looks like Ziggy's lost hippie cousin, and he's got the munchies all right--but not for junk food. Hamburgers, alcohol, and cake kill him, but fruits and vegetables are right on, man. Mario Bros. fans will find the jumping and climbing action familiar, but it's far less forgiving than in most shareware games of this type. Even on the first level, slight missteps mean death. The faux-Peruvian background music fits the tripped-out story line, but you can disable it if it distracts you. That's about the extent of the game's customization options, though. Frutti Freak may well be the world's first health-food action game, but it could use more twists in gameplay and a larger feature set.
