Isolator for Mac: The Ultimate Tool for Concentration

Are you tired of being constantly distracted while working on your computer? Do you find it difficult to focus on a task at hand with all the notifications, icons, and windows popping up on your desktop? If so, Isolator for Mac is the perfect solution for you.

Isolator is a small menu bar application that helps you concentrate. When you're working on a document or project and don't want to be distracted, turn on Isolator. It will cover up your desktop and all the icons on it, as well as the windows of all your other applications. This way, you can concentrate solely on the task in hand without any distractions.

With Isolator, you can customize how much of your screen is covered by its dark overlay. You can choose to cover just the desktop or go full-screen mode where everything else disappears except for what's in front of you. This feature makes it easy to switch between tasks without losing focus.

One great thing about Isolator is that it doesn't interfere with any other applications running in the background. You can still receive notifications from other apps while using Isolator without having them pop up and distract you from what's important.

Another useful feature of Isolator is its ability to hide specific applications instead of covering them entirely. For example, if there's an app that requires constant monitoring like a chat app or email client but still want to minimize distractions from other apps like social media platforms or games then this feature comes handy.

Isolation also has customizable keyboard shortcuts which make it easy to toggle between modes quickly when needed without having to navigate through menus every time.

Overall, if concentration and productivity are essential aspects of your work routine then investing in an application like Isolation could be one of the best decisions ever made!

Review

Isolator for Mac helps you stay focused on whatever you're doing on your computer by blocking out distractions. It does this by obscuring all but the window you're working in, although you can easily switch to other windows with just a click.

Pros

Straightforward interface: You can access Isolator through its icon on the right-hand side of the top menu bar. Clicking on it brings down a menu with options for turning Isolator on, as well as accessing the Preferences pane, among other things. As soon as you turn the app on, all but the window you're actively working in will fade into the background, obscured by the software, but easily retrievable with just a click.

Customization options: You can set the tint and opacity you want for the background apps, which allows you to see more or less of them while you're working on something else. You can also decide if you want the app to start immediately when the computer comes on, and you can set up a hotkey to turn it on and off as well.

Cons

Mail notifications: We did receive all of our notifications from the Mail app while Isolator was turned on during testing. This seems to defeat the purpose of the app a bit, and we couldn't find a way to disable notifications through the app itself.

Bottom Line

Isolator for Mac is a great way to help keep your focus on your work, no matter what it is you're doing at the moment. It's easy to turn on and off, and even when it's on, you can switch seamlessly between tasks by just selecting a different window. It offers a nice set of options to let you adjust its behavior to suit your work style, and it's completely free, making it worth a try.
