Description

This encryption software enables you to encrypt passwords, images, video, audio, and documents so they can only be viewed by you--not by your spouse, boss, or anyone else except those you give permission to.

Editor review

Though this basic tool helps you secure your confidential files, this program's stingy trial period makes it difficult to accurately test its effectiveness. Enigma Encryption's plainly designed interface is intuitive to users. The tabbed main window covers encryption of your account passwords, images, documents, video clips, and audio files. Setup is simple, as you merely need to create a master password to ensure only you have access to encrypted files. Encrypting files is also easy. You just browse for folder contents and encrypt single files or batches. In our tests, the program quickly encrypts files. However, it often crashed when we tried to encrypt large video clips. The memory-intensive process also slowed down some systems. The program is listed as allowing five encryptions or decryptions, but the trial expired after only three usages. This software is novice-friendly, but includes few options for advanced users. Anyone looking to strongly encrypt files will find this software serviceable, but a lot of other free but effective file-encryption utilities are on the market.
