Editor review

This file-compression and archiving program does the job, but suffers from many flaws. Visual Power Zip's interface resembles many other compression programs: it's a straightforward window topped by a line of large icons and pull-down menus. With a few clicks, you'll be able to create an archive and compress them in a single file with password protection. This application doesn't have drag-and-drop compression as the name would suggest. As with other applications in this class, you can browse for the files, include descriptions, and define a password for secured extraction purposes. Entering the wrong password to decompress a file correctly generates an error message, but also extracts a corrupted version of the file. Though it says it's a one-use trial, you can use this demo version more than once. Strangely, the help file is for another application. Novice users inexperienced with file-compression programs might like this basic utility. However, with many stable and robust compression utilities on the market, don't bother with this program.
