Description
AutoShutdown is a Windows-system shutdown manager. The software provides unattended control for a Windows PC; you can shut down, restart, log off, stand by, or hibernate based on the date or time, idle computer time, hot keys, or a manually triggered command. AutoShutdown also can monitor the battery level in a notebook computer and act while there's still power available. Systems running Windows 2000 and XP can lock the workstation. Version 4.5 adds a new scheduling system and a service module.
Review
This tool allows you to easily execute shutdown functions, although its primary features can be quickly accessed elsewhere on your PC. The toolbar features easy-to-comprehend, colorful icons. AutoShutdown lets you shut down, restart, log off, stand by, hibernate, and lock your workstation in an instant. You can schedule the commands and assign hot keys, features not available through the Start menu. Additionally, the application can warn you when scheduled commands are about to be executed. File Cleanup, which enables you to simultaneously delete unwanted files and histories and perform any AutoShutdown function, is an extraneous feature. Unfortunately, this software terminates all running programs without letting the user know all live files will not be saved. Users who want to schedule shutdown functions will save time by using this program.
