Description
CleverKeys for Windows is a free software that provides instant access to definitions at Dictionary.com, synonyms at Thesaurus.com, facts at Reference.com, and your favorite search engine by simply highlighting a word and right click to search. CleverKeys allows you to search from within almost all Windows programs, including word processors, Web browsers and most e-mail clients.
Review
This handy freeware lets you quickly look up a selected word from virtually any program. Unlike similar browser add-ons, CleverKeys doesn't integrate with Windows or place an additional toolbar on your browser window. Instead, it's accessible using hot key combos. Its tabbed, easy-to-use interface references a word in Dictionary.com, Thesaurus.com, and Amazon.com. We like that users are able to add their own URLs to look for definitions associated with the selected word. We were amazed by how CleverKeys was able to look up words from Notepad, Microsoft Word, WordPad, Outlook Express, and more. Although the program is categorized as an Internet Explorer add-on, we were glad to find that it also works for Mozilla Firefox. With that said, CleverKeys makes a nice pick for anyone who needs to quickly pull data off the Web.
