Description
GrabFile is a powerful and easy-to-use program for downloading pictures and Flash files to your local disk. You can set filters and browse the files while you're downloading. The program resumes downloads if it's interrupted and supports HTTP and FTP protocols.
Version 3.9 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.
Review
This sticky-fingered site downloader snatches images and Flash movies with aplomb, but it's not the best choice if you want to be selective. GrabFile doesn't let you limit search depth, and it filters only by file extension and size, not keyword, so you'll probably spend a lot of time weeding out unwanted files. On the upside, the interface lets you preview downloaded images, and it organizes your downloading sessions into a neat task tree. The free version comes with a somewhat short 14-day trial period and can only download 20 files per URL (though you can sometimes persuade it to grab more by repeatedly spidering the same site), limiting its usefulness. All in all, GrabFile's minimal functionality makes it a viable choice for only the simplest Web sites.
