Description
If you are constantly working on both Macintosh and Windows computers, you have probably experienced the frustration of the extra files that suddenly appear when you open the folders in Windows. These small files beginning with ._ are created for every file in a folder. This makes finding what you need a pain. With File Sweeper, you can quickly locate and delete these small, annoying files. Simply select the folder you would like to clean, and File Sweeper will search for any bad files.
Plus, you can automatically back up any file before they are deleted to ensure that you will not need these later.
Review
This very focused application finds and eliminates files generated by Macintosh computers. File Sweeper's simple interface cleanly displays the few commands it needs. Most users won't even need to refer to the basic help file. You don't need to choose a file type to scan as this program only looks for files generated when users bring Macintosh saved files to their Windows environment. These "._" files are often found with music files transferred to a PC system.
It's easy to get started by selecting the folder you want to search. Subdirectories are scanned with a mere tick of a check box. The program isn't lightening quick, but it scans a full drive in a short time. Found files are easily deleted with a single click. There isn't an option to delete selected files, but the program offers another check box to create backups of all deleted files.
Most users will have no need for this application, but if you frequently import files from a Mac onto your PC, you might find this a handy tool to have available.
