Description

LookAway is a small utility to warn computer users that they need to look away from the screen from time to time. Health studies indicate eye-strain can be caused if people look at the screen constantly for more than 20 minutes.

To relieve this strain, it is necessary to have a break from it, even if only for a few seconds. Ideally, the person should try to focus on something in the distance. Version 1.2 includes unspecified updates, enhancements, and bug fixes. Non-Administrator accounts can install and use this version.

Is staring at the screen making you cross-eyed? This tiny application helps you periodically rest your eyes when using the computer, and it's ultrasimple to set up and use. You'll find LookAway in the system tray, with only two options for setting the timer interval in minutes and creating a brief text message. When it's break time, your monitor screen blurs and your message appears.

Unlike similar programs, this one doesn't lock your computer, and clicking the screen lets you continue your work. No help file is offered, but the software is so simple one isn't really necessary. LookAway doesn't offer an extensive feature set, but its useful reminders can effectively reduce eye strain or injury--and it doesn't cost a cent.
