Review
This simple freeware tool displays the md5sum fingerprint for any Windows file, but more than the specialized information is available. Logicdream's ShellBuddy lacks an interface but does add two items to your context click menu, File Type Information and File MD5 checksum. It is easy to use, and the information is helpfully displayed.
You merely right-click on a file to select File Type Information. You won't see a lot of information, but the file path and file type is useful. Much handier is the MD5 information, as this utility not only displays the files saved MD5 checksum, but recomputes it. Choosing File MD5 from the context menu instantly displays both values. The program also displays the match value so you don't have to compare the results.
This application is simple to install and easy to operate. We only wish there had been more data displayed with the File Information option. Nevertheless, any user needing MD5 checksum information on the fly is going to find that this program fits the bill.
