Description
Quick Album is a friendly image publisher and organizer, which makes managing digital pictures an easy task for both beginners and experts. With Quick Album, you can browse images and videos, create virtual albums and publish them as Web pages, present slide shows, apply background music or narrations, and post your end result on the Internet with streaming video and audio using Quick Album's helper site, AlbumFactory.com. Quick Album includes various Web and screen kits as templates for creating your own Web albums and slide shows.
Features include a file manager, an advanced thumbnail engine with optimization features, built-in TWAIN support for image scanning and recording, a trendy Office XP/2003-style interface, DirectX integration for audio (MP3, WMA) and video (MPEG, AVI) playback, filters for reading most image formats, support for streaming video and audio with Microsoft Media Encoder technology, and image printing.
Version 1.1 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.
Review
True to its title, Quick Album works with various graphic, audio, and video files to help you assemble Web photo albums. Upon opening, the program shows a detailed tutorial in the main window to teach you how to use it.
You also get a step-by-step guide, and tool tips abound. You can preview images with one click. The results look like a real photo album, letting you literally turn pages. The program's developer also provides space for publishing finished albums online.
However, at one point after we added a couple of images and clicked on the album title, the program crashed. Although the program doesn't quite fulfill its potential yet, Quick Album's many features show promise for home use.
