Description
Folder Security Personal allows you to hide and lock folders and files. You can choose to hide them completely or restrict access by making them read-only, preventing modification or deletion by other users or programs. It can restrict access to Floppy, CDRom, USB sticks, and other removable drives by locking them or making them read-only. It also includes a proactive spyware defender.
Version 4.1.312 adds Windows Vista support.

This simple but effective utility makes it easy to to protect your files from prying eyes and overeager children. To work normally with protected files, start Folder Security Personal and enter the password. From that point on, to protect an item you just have to drag and drop it onto the program window. You can hide, block access to, or prevent modification of individual folders and files, files of a specified format, or entire drives. The utility now supports file-sharing via NetHood technology, and also can enable or disable the Registry editor. It doesn't take much memory when running in the background. We wouldn't use Folder Security Personal to protect really sensitive information, since it doesn't encrypt files. But it ought to suit the security needs of most casual computer users.
