Description

Page Update Checker (aka PUC pronounced as Puke) is a FireFox extension that automatically checks to see if Web pages have changed. Once installed, you will be able to right-click on any page in Firefox and select 'Monitor for Updates'. The PUC options will open up and you can select how often you would like PUC to download the Web page and see if it has changed. To return to the options menu later, select Tools-Page Update Checker Options. This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.

Editor review

Get instant notification when your favorite Web site is updated, with this free Firefox extension. Despite its unimaginative name and interface, Page Update Checker's performance was impressive.

Right-click on any Web page and a tabbed interface appears. It's not much to look at, but its pretty self-explanatory. You can easily schedule how often you want to check a page for updates, and, if you like, you can add a sound to the update notifications. The program comes preset with three checkers--Basic, Filter 0.3, and ebay Bid Price 0.3--but you can add your own by either importing it or creating it using javascript. A pop-up window duly appeared when test pages changed, but we were impressed that Page Update Checker went a step further and conveniently displayed change details in the window. If you want to stop checking that particular page, just click the link provided.

You certainly won't miss any updates with this handy, free extension. We recommend Page Update Checker for all user levels.
