MC FolderSize will add an extra column to the Details view of Windows Explorer. This column displays the size (in kilobytes) of every folder in view. This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.
Review
The freeware application adds a folder size column to Windows Explorer's detail view, but fails with a single feature. MC Foldersize lacks an interface, and simply installs to the Windows Shell Extension folder.
There is really no operating this tool. The application loads automatically when Explorer's detail view is invoked. It correctly measures the size of the files in each folder and displays the amount in kilobytes or megabytes for the entire folder. Some systems take a few seconds to calculate the space used by the folder, but testers found the wait very short.
Explorer allows column sorting, but the MC Foldersize column fails to sort with the rest. That snag aside, this is a freeware application that proves a snap to install and fills a gap by providing folder size information.
