Description

Slay is a simple-to-learn game of strategy and cunning set in medieval times. The island is divided among six players, and you must try to capture your enemies' land and link your own territories to create larger and stronger ones. You begin capturing land by attacking with your peasants. Once your territories become richer, you can combine peasants to make stronger and stronger people (spearmen, knights, and barons) who can kill weaker enemy troops, or knock down their castles. Just be careful you don't create too many expensive men or the territory will go bankrupt. Version 5 includes a built-in lobby system to play games over the Internet.

Review

Editor review

This basic strategy game plays like a primer you might want to try before exploring more complicated programs. Slay presents a typical scenario, in which you try to take over land by raising and employing armies. We appreciate that the game works in many languages, as well as the options for tweaking the game's color scheme, difficulty, and general theme. It also provides hints if you attempt to do something improperly. The biggest challenges to your conquest are limited financial and human resources. The graphics are, shall we say, not impressive. Novices looking for an easy way to get into the world of strategic gaming might appreciate the non-threatening Slay.
