Description

Loop Recorder is designed for capturing songs from the radio. The loop mode infinitely records up to a specified number of minutes in a continuous loop while scrolling the data. At any time during the recording, the current data can be previewed and songs can be cut and saved as MP3, OGG, or ASF files. In addition, you can fade in to and out of songs, and the level can be normalized. All this can be done while the recording continues in the background. The program also features an integrated timer that allows scheduled recordings. Since it records continuously, Loop Recorder is ideal for capturing songs from the radio. Never miss the beginning of a song again.

Version 2.06 improves Windows Vista compatibility.

Review

Editor review

Back in the day, if you wanted to capture a particular song off the radio, you'd keep a tape deck recording for hours. Whenever the tape ran out, you'd just flip it. That's the basic idea behind Loop Recorder. As the name suggests, it records audio in an infinite loop of whatever size you choose. Once it reaches the end, it rewrites over the beginning. The idea is to capture choice bits of broadcast and Internet radio without wasting disk space. A built-in editor lets you preview the audio track, cut and save fragments, and fade their beginnings and ends. If you'd rather not record in a loop, the program also can capture audio in sequential files of equal length. The interface is far from straightforward and miles from good-looking, but the online and included help files are adequate. Loop Recorder is best-suited to tech-savvy Internet-radio enthusiasts who stick close to their PCs.
