NewsSeeker is a way to read, download, and manage your RSS and ATOM news feeds on your Windows desktop. The easy to use interface, based on the Office 2007 user interface, makes it simple to keep up to date with the latest information. You can customize how feeds are organized and save smart feeds based on those searches. You can also download audio and video files that are linked to a feed. Instead of spending time visiting numerous Web sites, just use NewsSeeker instead and read them all from one place. Includes tabbed Web browsing, saved searches, categorised views and listings, file downloader, auto preview, and newspaper view.
Review
In the new, blog-hungry Internet, a good RSS reader can be a daily necessity. However, NewsSeeker is far from being at the top of our list, with fewer user-friendly features than many of its freeware rivals. It does notify users when new articles are posted, and offers its own internal browser for viewing full article texts. Unlike some drag-and-drop interfaces, this one requires users to copy and paste a newsfeed's link, or use a Subscribe button, to add new content. This latter method contributes to a clunky interface, creating pages that display content from a single channel.
NewsSeeker lets users organize their feeds using folders, but for some reason does not allow these to be switched among categories. It offers a simple filter for articles, but cannot display content from several feeds together, based on a keyword search. These limitations sharply undermine the program's appeal in today's market; as a result, we would advise most computer users to find a more full-featured alternative.
