This comprehensive system benchmark tool could use an English manual, and more explanation of the results for novice users. CrystalMark's multi-tab interface packs a lot of information into a series of small windows. Help is possible if you read Japanese; otherwise you're on your own.
Despite the cluttered appearance, operating this app isn't difficult. However, only those familiar with various benchmark tools will understand the final scores. CrystalMark smartly includes all the traditional information screens. Operating system, BIOS, CPU, Features, Chipset, PCI Devices, hard drive, and DLL information is all cleanly displayed over a series of simple text screens. The utility includes a dozen different text and HTML reports. All are easily saved and displayed with a simple pull-down menu.
Where this will confuse many users is its central feature. A couple of dozen benchmarks are succinctly displayed. Unfortunately, none are well explained. Expert users with a little time could decode the various scores, but they'll be meaningless to everyone else. We can easily recommend CrystalMark for experienced users, but suggest others find a better-explained utility.
