With today's huge hard drives it becomes easy to accumulate large collections of files. This becomes a problem when you realize that your collection of 50,000 files is full of duplicates. Sorting this manually would take weeks. TwinSeek however will speed this up significantly by comparing all the files in a directory and its subdirectories and will then show what ones are 95% similar. It can then show some details on the files to help you decide which ones to keep, or TwinSeek can even delete all doubles with one button. TwinSeek can also used to provide a detailed comparison of the differences between two files. Version 1.3 features hash searching and delete options.
Review
TwinSeek helps you find those duplicate files taking up space on your computer, although it doesn't take the extra step of removing them. The program's simple, clean interface makes it easy to choose a directory and search for duplicates or select two files and do a more extensive comparison. Search results for a directory scan are sorted by the percentage of similarities.
TwinSeek can only find duplicates and compare files of the same type, so a Microsoft Word doc and text file with the same name aren't considered matches. TwinSeek doesn't allow you to delete or move potential duplicates, unlike features found in some other freeware duplicate-file finders. While it won't get rid of those pesky duplicate files, TwinSeek can help you locate them and decide which ones to keep and which ones to toss.
