This application effectively masks personal text messages within graphical images. Though we'd like to see support for more file extensions, you'll appreciate Message Smuggler's logical, well-designed interface. You simply grab a JPG or BMP image, type your text, and assign a password. The image file then can be used in the same manner as any other graphical image, such as in e-mails and on Web pages. Reading hidden messages is easy; just open the image with Message Smuggler and enter the password. Even though the program performs moderately well, we're disappointed files can't be hidden with this tool. You won't want to send anything confidential during its 30-use trial, either. Each hidden text image is displayed with a note informing the reader that a message is hidden in the graphic and also gives the password. Message Smuggler's features are minimal, and the program is mediocre as a user-friendly privacy tool.
