Review
This free Firefox extension keeps your IP address within eyesight, but on several occasions, it caused testers' browsers to stop working.
When installed, External IP displays your IP address in the right-hand corner of your status bar. The address refreshes itself each time you open your browser, or once every hour. You can also refresh it using your context menu. The program gives you alerts when your IP address has changed. From the start, we had issues with the program abruptly closing our browser window. Eventually, we were able to reopen our browser, and the IP address appeared like promised, but we continued to have problems throughout our tests. The problem was alleviated once we uninstalled the extension.
While it did display the IP address, the problems we encountered with External IP prevent us from recommending it.
