Review
Much of the attraction of ancient strategy games is you don't need fancy equipment to play--a couple of stones and a board will do. While we enjoy the challenge of Mancala 3000, as shareware it probably needs a few more development tricks to justify its price. The rules of the game are very simple. You try to collect stones faster than your opponent, by moving the stones around a board. While we quickly got the gist after a few games, the game has a helpful guide if you need it. This demo version limits many game options and only allows beginner games against the computer. Mancala is based on the ancient game of the same name (also called Kalaha) and has changed little since. Overall, this is a sufficient trial download for those looking to try their hand at an interesting game, yet it probably belongs in the freeware world.
