Description

Redirect Remover has two mainly purpose to speed up browsing by de-proxyfying images and directly jumping to link-target and increase transparency on some links by showing "real" link-target. It doesn't really increase your privacy. It can, but there are like a dozen ways to circumvent Redirect Remover, so don't expect it to do wonders. If you would like to test your Redirect Remover installation, have a look at the test page with all kinds of links containing redirects, special characters and so on.

This nifty Firefox add-on helps users manage redirects, those pesky URLs that sometimes take users to sites they'd rather not see. Installation follows the typical, simple Firefox process. Redirect Remover needs only a configuration interface. It's on by default and needs no user interaction beyond set up.

Configuring Redirect Remover is the most difficult aspect of the application, but the publisher has performed most of the work. A set of allowed redirects is presented in the program's white list. A simple set of rules along with helpful instructions make it easy for most users to add to the allowed list. The add-on includes context menu options to allow a redirect on-the-fly and to clean image redirects as they're loaded.

Redirect Remover won't find and eliminate every redirect, but it can help users gain some control over the redirect problem. This free add-on is recommended for all Firefox users.
