MiniReminder is a small, fast, and simple Windows application to remind yourself of important yearly events like birthdays, anniversaries, and renewals. It can start automatically and hide in the system tray until the day a reminder is due. You can add short comments, customize the colors, and choose the font type and size.

This tiny and free application presents a low-maintenance solution for giving yourself basic reminders, but it won't cope well with time-sensitive items. MiniReminder's petite reminder screen is simple and spartan, but you can slightly dress up its appearance by changing the background color. Operating the application won't be a problem for even the most inexperienced users, as you simply specify the event date and reminder message, then add any notes you find appropriate. This utility's biggest flaw is that it can only alert you a certain number of days before an event occurs and won't let you set reminders by the hour. We also found the lack of sound-based reminders a curious omission, although since MiniReminder is totally free, we can't expect everything. We think this program will do for reminding yourself about occurrences such as birthdays and anniversaries, but it's not a good pick for the office environment.
