The desktop crawler/spider is a Windows Application that you can run directly from one, or more, of your home or office computers. The Desktop Crawler can extract data from multiple sites and create well formatted Xml feeds or Html reports. This version of the spider can also download whole sites creating local copies for you to browse offline.
The Athena Desktop Crawler is an advanced web crawling application that provides data extraction and site replication features. With your copy of the Athena Desktop Crawler you will be able to:
Crawl entire sites or groups of sites from your desktop; Use advanced crawl and extract rules to control the crawler; Extract information using regular expressions and rules; Process only certain pages or areas of a site; Extract images, css, script, flash and other file types; Create a full local copy of an entire web site with working links; Correct file extensions from server side pages; Create an xml feed from extracted data; Create HTML reports from site feeds; Configure and schedule the Athena Crawler Service.
