Is your address book a jumbled mix of friends, family, business contacts, and acquaintances? The Associates application allows you to add expiration dates onto address book contacts that will help you differentiate "casual" contacts (that you eventually can delete) from important ones (like family that you don't want to delete).Usage scenario:Let's say you are planning to go to a conference where you will meet people and you expect to collect contact information. Prior to attending, launch the Associates app and in the defaults section enter the address of the meeting or conference and how long you wish to keep new contacts before getting a reminder to possibly delete them. While attending the conference, add new contacts to your iOS device using the Associates app ( which invokes the built-in screens from the Contacts app). If your new contact ALSO has the Associates app, you can simply bump devices to exchange contact information (using the BUMP(tm) technology). Your new contact will be added to your address book with an extra date field called 'expires' with a future date and a 'main' address of the event took place. Also, a new Calendar reminder will get added to your Calendar app to alert you in the future to clean up your contacts. Then, sometime in the future, when you receive you Calendar alert to remind you to "purge" (delete) your expired contacts, the Associates app will show you a list of 'expired' contacts and allow you to selectively delete them or purge them all in one step!One-time setup of defaults:* Setup a default point in time when contacts should be considered 'expired' (1 week to 6 months).* Choose an existing calendar onto which a reminder/alert event will created in your Calendar app.Then, there are two ways of using the Associates app:I. Adding expirations to contacts:* Tag EXISTING contacts with an expiration field and a calendar reminder event is automatically created at a future date (1 week to 6 months in the future depending on your defaults).* When NEW contacts are created (via the Associates app), an expiration field is automatically added.* New contacts can also have a main work address added automatically (set in defaults)* New contacts can be acquired by BUMP-ing. If you meet a new contact who has the Associates app installed, simply bump devices to exchange contact information AND have a default *main* address AND have a default expiration added.II. Deleting expired contacts* At a future date (1 week to 6 months in the future), you will receive a Calendar alert that will allow you to quickly launch the Associates app to see the list of 'expired' contacts and quickly delete them from your address book.* View the list of contacts in your address book that have been tagged as 'expiring' at any time.
