Description

Have you got multiple physical displays and can never get that background quite right? Well my first proper application, MultiBackground is here to try and save you from those woes, because it is so simple and easy to use. MultiBackground works by calculating your primary screen position and with some clever trickery, tricks Windows 7 so that your favourite panorama, 2 screen or 3 screen background can be displayed nicely across all your screens. MultiBackground is only a beta at the moment but will be staying freeware. Hopefully, with your help and support, become a successfully developed application. The only prerequisite is .NET 4.0, however Windows 7 comes with this anyway. The likely-hood is that you'll need to be an administrator on the computer you wish to run this on.

MultiBackground is a much easier way to manage multiple monitors than what Windows gives you by default. While it doesn't unlock any real bonus features over Windows' default method, it makes the whole process a lot easier. If you have been struggling in your attempts to configure your background on multiple monitors, give this handy program a try.

This program lets you configure the same or different backgrounds on multiple monitors much more easily than you would if you used Windows' regular means. It's just a basic gray window that gives you details on your current desktop setup. You can easily number each monitor, so you know which you are trying to change before you do anything drastic. From there, you can upload a new background or configure your current one. MultiBackground uses the same fit options -- stretch to fit, center, etc. -- as Windows, but it gives you a much more helpful preview, so you know exactly what things will look like before you change them. This is a portable program, so it may set off your anti-virus software the first time you use it. You can stick it on a thumb or USB drive and take it with you anywhere, though, which makes setting up your monitors at work a lot easier.

While the program isn't a major game changer, anyone who has struggled to set up multiple monitors will appreciate it. MultiBackground delivers exactly what it promises: a better experience than Windows can offer while you're setting up your desktops. If that's something you need, this is an easy download to get behind.
