M-Player is designed as a lightweight application that provides users with a cool and convenient means for listening to their music, or in short - a music player. The application features a friendly and robust graphical user interface with simple and intuitive controls and functionality. M-Player includes some cool features and one of them is the ability to manage and access your disk music collection faster. The Library will load automatically when you first run the program asking for the location of your music files and generating the audio list that will later be used in the program. Apart from the expected playback abilities neatly laid out, M-Player will also display the cover of the album embedded in the audio tracks. The playlist will keep track of all your files comprehensively using title, artist, album, genre, duration, year, bit rate, file path values which allow you to sort out files according to your needs. Repeat and shuffle functions are available activated from either the menu bar or designated hotkeys. Edit a track's details including track number, title, artist, album name, track genre and year of release. Another enhancement involves the ability to quickly lookup lyrics online from within the program with an integrated browser. You can even view the video for your audio track on Youtube, and artist information through Wikipedia. The WLM or Skype music Plugin will display the title and artist of the currently played track into the WLM messenger or Skype, so that your friends can always see what you are listening to. Overall, M-Player is a great tool designed for all music lovers; within a lightweight environment you can listen to your music albums, lookup lyrics and view the video clip with just one click.
Review
M-Player is a solid, if not exciting, MP3 and WMA player. It's intuitive in its format and has most of the features one would expect of an audio player. One that's missing is the ability to more accurately control tone or frequency within the music. A built-in equalizer would do much for this program.
Once M-Player's installation completes, you can immediately load your albums or song files in MP3 or WMA formats. While you can find most audio files in one of the two formats, it would be nice to have the choice of other less used formats integrated directly into the program. M-Player's interface doesn't have much visual appeal, but it includes all the basic options. As in other audio players, you can create libraries and playlists, continuously play or randomly play tracks, pause, etc. Adding albums or single files to the playlist goes smoothly. However, the "Play" button wasn't functional in our tests, and we had to double-click the initial track to start the music. The player will display album cover art embedded in the audio tracks, which is a nice feature. In addition, the player comes with two additional plug-ins for Skype and Windows Live Messenger. When enabled, these plug-ins let you display the title and artist of the currently played track to your Skype and WLM contacts.
M-Player may not wow you, but aside from one testing glitch, we found it to be a solid audio player. If you haven't already committed elsewhere or your current app is too complicated, this one is worth a shot.
