PreTweet

Blackhat's PreTweet lets you send thousands of tweets at once without disrupting your normal Twitter use. All you have to do is enter tweets in text file, one per line, and load it in PreTweet. Schedule a tweeting time, and PreTweet does the rest. It's portable freeware for Windows that includes the required Microsoft Visual Basic Power Packs Setup tool in its compressed download, which you may need to install first.

PreTweet's user interface is little more than half a sidebar in size, but it packs everything it needs into a compact layout, including Twitter Credentials (Username and Password), Always on Top checkbox, and controls for loading, scheduling, and ordering tweets randomly or sequentially. We could post new tweets after a certain number of minutes, hours, or days had passed. A counter tracks the number of tweets posted, and PreTweet can stop tweeting after an exact number of tweets. Pressing "Help" opens a concise manual with a sample text document that's worth a thousand tweets, itself.

But first you need something to tweet! It's easy. We composed some tweets as usual in an ordinary text file, one tweet per line, and saved it to the desktop. We entered our Twitter account data, pressed "Load Tweets," and browsed to our text file. When we pressed "Begin Tweeting," PreTweet started posting automatically to Twitter on schedule. So what's PreTweet good for? Invitations, announcements, mass updates -- or maybe just a mass of carefully crafted tweets that stop you from tweeting from the hip.
