This App provides information and support for the Village Community of the McArthur River Mine.McArthur River Mine is located in the Gulf of Carpentaria in the Northern Territory of Australia. Our site is 65 km south-west of Borroloola, 120 km south of the Bing Bong loading facility and 900 km southeast of Darwin. The mine is the worlds largest bulk producer of zinc in concentrate form, supplying 70% of global demand for a high-grade bulk zinc-lead-silver concentrate. Our concentrate is used by Imperial Smelting Process smelters in Europe and Asia to produce zinc and lead metal and alloys. In 2009, the mine began producing a new zinc concentrate for supply to electrolytic smelters. The mines concentrate is transported from the mine to our own Bing Bong loading facility by road. From there it is loaded onto a barge and transported to waiting ships at sea in the Gulf of Carpentaria. The mines production represents approximately 3% of the worlds total zinc resources used by all types of smelters each year.
