Description
With Macro Express you can create time saving macros for specific applications and global macros that will work with any Windows program. Dozens of wizards are available to help you create the macros that will let you automate common computer tasks, including typing text, launching Web sites, downloading files, and creating reminders. Macros can be launched by hot keys, short keys, a window title, a pop-up menu, a mouse click, or a timed schedule.
Review
We're still trying to figure out if there's anything Macro Express can't do. It can automate typing a phrase, clicking an interface button, ejecting the CD-ROM, dialing a modem, pinging a site, and changing the desktop wallpaper. It can activate shortcuts with hot keys, text aliases, mouse movements, and pop-up menus. Neophytes get a great help file and wizards for just about everything. Power users can edit scripts manually and link macros with conditionals and variables. You can spend hours at play in the fields of the options menu. True, Macro Express takes up a considerable amount of system memory (9MB), and its forbidding interface keeps it (by a hair) from our highest recommendation. But its usability and mind-boggling feature set make it a superb choice for common users and IT professionals.
