The Scots language is the Germanic language, related to English, spoken in Lowland Scotland and Ulster, not the Celtic language Gaelic!

This App provides definitions of Scots words and some short phrases in English or possible Scots translations of English words.

The App includes a Scots pronunciation and spelling guide.

Scots is descended from Northern Middle English. It is often referred to as Broad Scots and, in days gone by, Scotch, or by local names such as the Doric, the Buchan Claik, the Patter, Lallans (Lowland Scots), and to some, simply Scottish dialect.
