Description

In the Firefox Browser (and other Mozilla programs) you can per default configure only the setting for one internet connection. With this Proxy Switch you can manage different configurations and simply switch over between these. To switch between a direct connection or different proxy configurations you then must no longer respectively execute the dialog Connection Settings newly. With this Proxy Switch you can toggle with one click between the direct connection to the internet and other proxy configurations.

Installation: After a restart of the Firefox the MM3-ProxySwitch is available. You still must add the symbol MM3 for the ProxySwitch to the toolbar (Menu Bar or Navigation Toolbar) now. Click with the right mouse button on the toolbar and select the entry from the popup menu: Customize... Drag the symbol MM3-ProxySwitch into the toolbar.

Editor review

MM3-ProxySwitch is an effective tool for managing your proxy configurations, but they really make you work to get this up and running. Downloading the program isn't enough, you have to find and drag the shortcut button to the toolbar.

The drab interface is totally confusing, and we had to consult the how-to guide under the Options menu just to get started. Unfortunately, the how-to guide isn't an easy read and at times confused our testers more than it helped. If you're still hanging in there, the payoff finally comes. With a swift click of a button, you can switch back and forth between a direct connection to the Internet or a proxy setup. The Edit option on the drop-down menu lets you change the settings of the proxy server to allow or block certain Web sites. Once again, you're on your own when it comes to changing the settings as the user guide is light on explaining this feature as well.

Those not familiar with proxy settings should stay away. Otherwise, once you get past the initial setup, this freeware turns out to be fairly effective.
