Description
FreeMeter is a utility that helps you keep track of your system's resources, by monitoring, in real time, disk space use and CPU usage, memory usage, and disk and network transfer rates. FreeMeter can be used for observing your computer's activity or for diagnosing technical problems. You can customize the display to show just the information you're interested in. You also can place icons in the system tray that depict system usage.
Review
This simple, free program monitors RAM and CPU usage in real time. You can choose to run FreeMeter at start-up so you can monitor your system at all times, or just run it when you want. Upon launch, two graphs tick by, measuring your CPU usage and your current disk usage. You also can see the amount of RAM in use, how much you have left, and the total amount. The page-file readout offers similar information. The RAM analysis is particularly useful for people who need to run several applications at once. We liked being able to see how specific actions affected system resources. We also liked the small, configurable meters the program can place in the system tray, which tell you at a glance how many resources you're using at that moment. FreeMeter works well for people who need to monitor their limited resources while using several programs at once.
