Microsoft's To-Do app, the successor to the popular Wunderlist task manager, gives you an easy way to track your tasks and organize your day.

Pros

Create lists: With Microsoft's To-Do app, you create lists for anything you want and apply themes and colors to quickly identify them. You then sort items alphabetically, by due date, by creation date, or if it's completed.

Manage your daily tasks: Each day, you can skip over all the undone to-do items and start fresh with a blank My Day list, letting you set your tasks based on daily priorities.

Add reminders, due dates, and notes: For to-do items, you can create reminders, set due dates, write notes, and add steps if it's a complicated item.

Recommends which tasks to focus on: Using what Microsoft is calling "Intelligent Suggestion," the app looks at your to-do items and recommends the ones you should focus on first.

Available across platforms: You can access your to-do lists on Android and iPhone, Windows 10, and via the website.

Wunderlist Part 2: In 2015, Microsoft acquired the task-manager Wunderlist, and for several years the company continued to support the popular app. At the end of 2017, the company said it was retiring Wunderlist and focusing its efforts on To-Do. If you are a Wunderlist user looking to make the switch to To-Do, Microsoft has an importer tool to move your Wunderlist information over to To-Do.

Cons

No Mac app: Hard to call this a deal-breaker -- since Mac users can access their to-do lists via the web -- but To-Do lacks a Mac app.

Lacks collaboration tools: Unlike some other task managers, such as Wunderlist, you can't share or assign tasks to colleagues.

Bottom Line

Microsoft's To-Do is an easy way to manage your tasks across platforms -- as long as you don't need a native Mac app. If you are looking for a replacement for Wunderlist, To-Do is a solid choice.
