Dunking Dyslexia app is ready.

This app provides a multi-sensory approach for learning and teaching phonics using music. The program is based on the neuroscience of the relationship of music to learning. The app is an optional component to the Step By Step Reading program created by Dr. Marianne Cintron, app developer and author.

This app requires internet connection and is divided into three subgroups. Students should be 7 years or older for using these exercises with the music. Music is always played in the LEFT ear and spelling in the RIGHT ear. This is called Enhanced Lateralization.

For each button, students tap the button to begin the exercise, which can be paused, rewound, or fast forwarded as the student desires using the back, pause, and forward arrows < = >.

Subgroup 1a: There are two basic exercises at the top, that when tapped, will begin. One contains music only, to be played in the LEFT ear via ear pod, allowing the student to listen while he focuses on reading the phonics or completes workbook pages.

Subgroup 1b: The other basic exercise contains letter names and sounds to help your child in kindergarten to 5th grade. Also helpful for English Language Learners.

Subgroup 2: There are 28 spelling exercises that correspond to the Step By Step Reading program. Students listen with ear pods so that music is played in the LEFT ear while the spelling exercises are listened to in the RIGHT ear.

Subgroup 3: There are 8 spelling sentence groups that correspond to the Step-By Step Reading program. Students listen with ear pods so that music is played in the LEFT ear while the spelling exercises are listened to in the RIGHT ear.

Why This App Is Unique

Dr. Cintrons Step By Step Reading program was created with the dyslexic student in mind in order to use the music. Music is being used in many therapeutic situations and we have a jump on it in education. Scientific sources showed that when music is played in the LEFT ear, it crosses to the right angular gyrus, giving it a job it enjoys, so it doesnt take over the reading. Then the spelling exercises enter into the RIGHT ear crossing directly to the right angular gyrus, where language is developed. The central part of the brain, the corpus callosum, slows down auditory processing in dyslexic students, so using the Enhanced Lateralization the corpus callosum is bypassed. Students are learning at a faster rate than without using music! Students have made 1-3 year gains in six weeks using a similar reading program while listening to the spelling exercises from a CD. Providing Digital Access to music and spelling exercises combined with an improved reading program will increase the speed of your students reading fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. About the Author

Dr. Cintron has been an educator for over two decades, a radio speaker, and a teacher/trainer of the Orton Gillingham curriculum.
