Description

Moom makes it really easy to move and zoom your windows--just hover over the green resize button, and the Moom interface appears. From there, a single click zooms a window to full screen, or pins it to an edge, sized at half the available space. Hover again, and click the arrow icon to return the window to its original size and location. Keyboard mode lets you do all that via the keyboard, as well as centering any window and more.

Moom for Mac provides functionality that Mac users have been clamoring for, allowing you to instantly resize and reposition windows on your desktop with the tap of a button. While there are other apps available that offer similar functionality, few are as intuitive or as fast as Moom. While the app needs to be open to operate and it lives in the dock rather than the taskbar, it is a very useful tool when open.

After installation, Moom opens to a preference window, showing you all of the options you'll have when customizing how the app operates. There are quite a few options here, allowing you to change mouse shortcuts, keyboard shortcuts, and set up custom layouts for the Mooms you use. A Moom, which is the focus of this app, is a resizing of a window. Each resizing is predefined, so you can snap a window to the left side of the screen, right side of the screen, or bottom of the screen. You can also define custom Mooms, when they occur, and how your interface interacts with them. If you've used a Windows 7 or 8 computer, you know just how convenient this feature is and Moom makes it very accessible.

By default, you can perform a Moom by mousing over the green resize button in any window and choosing where you want your window to go. This is a great option, but you can further customize it to fit your specific needs if you don't like that, which is part of what makes Moom such a fantastic app. If you want a window resizing app that gets it right, download Moom. It's free to try for 100 Mooms and then costs $5 for a lifetime license, which is well worth it for what you get.

Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of Moom for Mac 3.1.
