Transmit now connects to 10 new cloud services, like Backblaze B2, Box, Google Drive, DreamObjects, Dropbox, Microsoft Azure, and Rackspace Cloud Files. Transmit 5 now includes Panic Sync, our secure and fast way to sync your sites. And our File Sync feature adds support for local-to-local and remote-to-remote sync, while also giving you more fine-grained control. We disassembled Transmit's engine and rebuilt it, again, to significantly boost speed. T5 is better at multithreading and smarter about complex folders. Plus it's got a new activity view to better focus on what Transmit is doing right now. It's very fast.
Review
Transmit for Mac is a full service FTP client for the OS X platform. Transmit looks great, is easy to use, and should be a welcome program for anyone who has had difficulties transferring files via FTP in the past. It also has some welcome features that help integrate it smoothly with your system as a whole.
Pros
Favorites syncing: Being able to sync your favorites smoothly via a number of different methods is a very welcome feature. With Transmit, you have the option of syncing your favorites via Dropbox, which is an excellent choice for people who use multiple platforms but want to keep their favorites synced. If you're an iCloud user, you can also sync your favorites via iCloud.
Good visual interface: The interface in Transmit is great looking, and very easy to understand. It is divided into two panels, one of which represents your local system, the other which represents the system you're connecting to. This is easy to use and understand for veterans of this type of program and first-time users alike.
OS X integration: Transmit integrates with OS X, so you can mount external servers that you've connected to like disks in the Finder menu.
Cons
Cost compared to competition: There are several competitor programs, which do essentially the exact same things, but for free.
Bottom Line
If you're looking for an FTP app that integrates smoothly with a Mac operating system, then Transmit is a very good option. Finder and iCloud integration make it work very smoothly within the Mac ecosystem. The only real drawback is that there are competitor products that transfer files over FTP very well, but for no money.
