popShot provides an intuitive and pleasing interface with new important features for frequent screen shooters. It also turns out that "ordinary" people that don't know how to press cmd+shift+4 / hold three keys simultaneously now get the possibility (or more appropriately the ability) to capture the screen easily and effectively.
But why popShot? There are a bunch of similar Apps out there already?
The developer answers: Some time ago - looking at my desktop filled with heaps of screenshots for various clients - a mess of files with almost identical names - i started to search the web and the App Store for a tool to help me avoid future mayhem. So i downloaded and installed maybe 10 different applications - some lousy and some really good. The problem was that the good ones were too heavy - they did too much and didn't allow the same feeling of effortless, immediate action as the built-in OSX Screencapture functions. So i started to build my own app from scratch - with focus on the user experience; Effortless, quick and clutter-free screen-grabbing, an intuitive interface/ ease of use and - of course - implementation of new functions to avoid the previously mentioned crowded desktop. The Grab To URL function is built on the same principles; It just works. No set-up, subscriptions, logins or knowledge needed.
