Juice Cubes from Rovio Stars is a free-with-ads Android game that challenges players to swipe three or more juicy fruit cubes of the same color to remove them from the grid and open up new opportunities to score. You can play solo or against your friends, too. While it's hardly an original concept, Juice Cubes has plenty of fun touches, like the way fruit explodes when you line up a big score.
Pros
Diagonal swipes: Juice Cubes lets you connect cubes in lots of ways, including diagonally. Cubes, backgrounds, and characters are nicely rendered.
Level up: With more than 215 levels, a series of islands to hop, and sea-faring strangers like mermaids and pirates to encounter, players won't quickly tire of Juice Cubes.
Healthy snack attack: With all that juicy fruit jumping and exploding, it's hard not to get hungry for some of the real stuff!
Cons
Stand or deliver: Despite conquering each level, we ran out of moves and had to quit the game or (surprise!) buy more time.
Tight curves: We had to swipe diagonal matches twice or more now and again to connect them, wasting time and moves.
Bottom Line
With summery colors, high-quality backgrounds, and lots of levels, Juice Cubes matches up with any free match-three game. The same developer created the Angry Birds series, and he or she seems to have the hang of this Android game thing!
