CREWS (Community Respiratory Early Warning Score) is a self management tool developed in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland for patients with COPD to help monitor their condition and to identify exacerbations (flare ups) early.The score is based on symptoms, oxygen saturation and temperature measurements. By repeatedly monitoring the CREWS score patients can identify deterioration from their 'Well Score' and seek help from their Doctor or Nurse.The score is designed as an extra aid to patients in monitoring their condition and is not a replacement for usual medical care. At present it is only for use by patients enrolled in the CREWS project in Dumfries and Galloway.
