This phone application accompanies a dissertation chapter exploring the ways vibration can help produce affective experience of horror associated with sound that closed captioning can not solely recreate. The phone application uses vibration technology to mimic the sonic cues in horror films that are meant to create fear or tension. Often times closed captioning does not fully recreate those intense moments often using vague [eerie music]. This phone application shows that using a vibration track synced to a horror film can help regain some of what is lost in captioning. To use this phone application please download that application. Next, you can select one of two different short Youtube horror films: Fear Filter or Lights Out. Select your choice on the app. Once you have both the phone application and the video qeued to play, hit start and play at the same time. This will line the vibration track with the selected video.
