Description
GenDiskCleaner helps free up space on your hard drive. Disk Cleanup searches your drive based on your selection. It shows you cookies, history files, Internet cache files, Recent Files, Favorites, Common Documents, and temporary files you can safely delete. You can direct GenDiskCleaner to delete some or all of those files.
Review
This bare-bones utility does its main job and costs nothing, but it's neither a full-fledged privacy suite nor a comprehensive disk cleaner. GenDiskCleaner's interface is the epitome of the word
boring
, but since it only does a couple of things, its check-box scheme is blissfully easy to comprehend. Basically, the program deletes Internet Explorer cookies and cached files and also can erase your Recent Documents history and empty the Recycle Bin. But unlike full-featured privacy-protection apps, this one doesn't support other browsers, wipe tracks from third-party apps, or shred documents. You'll find an additional tool for getting rid of space-hogging temp files, but the app lacks additional disk-optimization tools. It won't hurt greenhorns to try the free GenDiskCleaner, as long as they make sure to supplement it with a couple of more powerful applications.
