Protein Chromo is a patent-pending colour clock technology that was conceived by Protein Mainframe in March 2000. The purpose of Protein Chromo is to create a new metaphor for time as well as serving as an attractive illumination device for modern living. The design of Protein Chromo was inspired by on-going research into creating future communication systems that transcend technology, culture and geographical domains. In addition to providing an ultimately simple indicator for time, Protein Chromo also raises the more profound question of the effects of colour and time on the human body.
