Clean Assistant is a handy and lovely utility working seamlessly with Fast Cleaner to perform system cleanup and Internet privacy protection. You can supervise your kids using Clean Assistant to list the Web sites they have browsed. You can scan and clean up the Internet cache, cookies, and the history to protect your Internet privacy. You can clean up Windows Temporary Folder easily and quickly, with full support for the user-defined one; clean up various kinds of recent file lists (the history) with a single point and click, with full support for Winzip. This new version features several bug fixes and minor enhancements to the user interface and the privacy protection routine.
Review
This bare-bones privacy application doesn't even do its main job well, making it impossible for us to endorse it. Clean Assistant works in step-by-step mode, letting you choose whether to wipe Internet Explorer history, Temporary Files history, or clean out other Windows system areas such as the Run menu and the Recent Documents list. The app not only lacks support for alternative browsers, but it doesn't even work well with IE; after multiple cleaning sessions, the program never erased typed URLs. And unlike many of its more competent competitors, this program can't erase tracks from popular third-party apps such as IM clients and P2P apps, though it does support a couple of basic Microsoft utilities. You can choose to delete the contents of a user-selected folder, but that doesn't make up for the lack of a secure file shredder. Though it looks like a potentially decent program for newbies, we can't lend Clean Assistant much support until it actually delivers on its promise.
