Description
Magic Rings is an interesting logic game with good 3D graphics and stereo sound. The total number of levels in the current version is 28, and each has a different complexity, from elementary to more complicated.
Review
In Magic Rings, you turn rings to rearrange marbles into a pattern that appears at the lower right. The puzzles are challenging, since the marbles are scrambled and the patterns grow more complex as the levels go up. You can view any of the patterns, but until you beat the first four levels, upper levels remain locked. Though the audio and graphics look good, we noticed several problems. For one, the game worked properly on only one of the three machines we tried; perhaps animating the outer-space setting overwhelmed the other computers. Rather than being able to adjust the volume, you can only turn music and audio on or off. Control 2 lets you move the rings smoothly with the mouse, and Control 1 moves the ring in almost exactly the opposite way you want it to. The help file is an external HTML file, not integrated into the game. The registration nag screen delays both launch and exit for three seconds. Puzzle gamers who miss those ring-turning marble games might enjoy the challenge of Magic Rings.
