Description

GetPix allows you to automatically download pictures from Web sites. You can specify the number of parallel threads and the sizes of files. You have control over duplicate file names, and proxy support is included. Banners, ads, pop-ups, and any other content from other sites can be restricted. GetPix provides a number of tools to manage the download process. You can browse thumbnails, view images in full-screen mode, send images by e-mail, open images with your viewer or picture editor, delete unnecessary files, and create wallpaper.

Editor review

This image downloader demonstrates good power and speed, but also suffers from a few bizarre stability problems. GetPix performs the simple, but useful, task of downloading all pictures from a given Web site as soon as you enter a URL. A list of downloaded files appears in the program's left pane, while the lion's share of the main window's real estate is reserved for previewing images. However, we wish the application automatically categorized files with their corresponding site; as it stands, it's tough to tell which pics came from which URLs after you've been to several addresses. Also, when we tried to delete the entire list of files for a fresh start, we got an unexplained error message. The slide-show feature will be handy to those who want to automatically browse all downloaded images, and we appreciate the ability to set a minimum and maximum file size for searches. Unfortunately, the program crashed in several of our tests, which makes us question how stable it actually is. We think GetPix makes a nice timesaver for both Webmasters and photo junkies, but we'd like to see some of the aforementioned issues smoothed over.
