AudioExtract is a free tool to make it easy to rip audio from a QuickTime movie file and save it as an AIFF or WAV file. Extract audio from the movies made with your digital camera (or otherwise) when the video footage doesn't add any value to your memorabilia. Convert between some sound formats.
Review
This utility makes quick work of removing audio from video files but doesn't offer any extra features to get excited about. AudioExtract can pull sound from a number of popular video formats, but it can unfortunately only output audio files in the WAV, AIFF, or AU formats, neglecting other popular codecs such as MP3 and OGG. Clicking the Mode menu item lets you toggle between screens for adding individual files or extracting audio from multiple clips at once. Neither interface is visually appealing in any way, although we're glad you can simply drag files into the queue. The application lets you determine the quality of your audio files, but we should note the trial version will make you restart the program after you've removed sound from three videos. However, since that's not a huge deal, we can recommend AudioExtract to anyone who needs to perform this simple job and doesn't care about bells and whistles.
